Mediation projects

We design and carry out mediation projects for various reasons:

We are recognized for our innovative and committed contemporary dance, we are not confined to the stage. Through our mediation projects, we seek to transcend the artistic world and connect significantly with the community. These projects, designed with creativity and passion, have several objectives that go beyond the mere spread of dance.

Raising awareness and creating new audiences

Awareness raising is one of the key pillars of mediation projects. We want to bring contemporary dance closer to different audiences, breaking obstacles and predictions. Through workshops, conferences and adapted shows, we invite people of all ages and backgrounds to know the world of contemporary dance, not only as spectators, but also as active people involved in the creative process.

Art as a tool for social change

In line with our social commitment, we use dance as a tool to address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Mediation projects address issues such as well-being, gender equality, production and responsible consumption, encouraging reflection and dialogue on these key issues. Thus dance becomes an instrument for promoting socialization, justice and perseverance.

Recognition of the work done behind the scenes

We go beyond dancing, valuing the work of all the professionals who make an artistic work possible. Through mediation projects, we make visible the work of dancers, choreographers, scenographers, locker rooms, technicians and other people who help create a complete artistic experience.

        Inclusion and diversity

Dance is essentially a universal language that transcends cultural and social barriers. We are aware of this power and design inclusive and accessible mediation projects for all. We create spaces where people from different groups and backgrounds can connect through dance, encouraging empathy, respect and understanding.

Dance in the classroom

Dantza Gela is an artistic and pedagogical project aimed at schools, an innovative way of working in a synchronized way on emotional management and culture. DAB devotes a week of immersion to the world of dance and artistic creation through teamwork and new sources of inspiration. For a week, students will put aside books and screens to create a show, to confront the experience with the body, to value it individually and collectively.

WORKSHOPS FOR GROUPS, INSTITUTIONS, COMPANIES

Awareness workshops are designed to bring contemporary dance closer to different groups in society. They may have different purposes, they may be oriented towards health, learning and cultivating a particular subject, creativity or research, but they all have fun. We design workshops between one and two hours, adapting to each group, goal and space, and contemporary dance being the main working tool. These workshops are for museums, collectives, institutions, businesses, etc.

Projects carried out

Emerging from nowhere, in collaboration with the Emmaus Social Foundation

This is a collaborative project with the Emmaus Foundation. Together with the participants from Munto, we created a contemporary dance piece called “Emerging from Nothing.” The performance was staged at the Nomad Festival, at the Teatro Principal in San Sebastián.

Zu-Dantzan!

This project is linked to the new Nœud performance. During the creative process, eight workshops were held, providing new sources of inspiration for the company’s dancers and allowing participants to be part of the creation of a contemporary dance performance. The workshops were held at the San Telmo Museum, Chillida Leku, the Albaola Maritime Cultural Factory, and the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum, due to their direct relationship with the themes explored in Nœud. The project culminated at the Niessen Theater in Errenteria with a video summary of the eight workshops and an open rehearsal by the DAB dance company, which showed how they integrated all the inspiration they had gained into the choreography of Nœud. Zu-Dantzan! Part of the Basque Government’s BITARTEZ program.

DANTZA GELARA

The project has already been carried out in some schools: Zuhaizti Ikastola (Donostia), San Benito Ikastola (Lazkao), Beurko Institutua (Barakaldo), Elizalde ikastola (Oiartzun), Salbatore Mitxelena Ikastola (Zarautz) and CEIP DUNBOA HLHI (Irún). As a collection of sessions and processes, three video-summaries to learn more about the enriching experience of the Dance Hall.
