AZALA

Five dancers and a cellist share the stage in a contemporary dance piece that blends movement, music, and emotion. AZALA delivers a clear message that connects deeply with live audiences — an intense performance filled with dance.

Are we moving toward a better future, or are we trapped in a cycle of bad decisions?

History has shown that human beings tend to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. But… can we change course? The skin is the map of our personal and collective history: written on it are our struggles, achievements, and failures. In this performance, movement reveals how cycles repeat themselves — and, above all, how we can break them.

KEA

KEA, which means “smoke” in Basque, is not merely a dance that looks to the past; it is a tribute to collective memory and to silent resistance. It pays homage to the women workers of Tabakalera in Donostia and, more broadly, to all the women who labored in the shadows of industry, writing history with their bodies and their hands.

Through the bodies of three women, simple, repeated gestures are transformed into physical poetry, turning the mechanical rhythms of work into dance. Smoke, voices, and movement make the invisible visible.

KEA honors the memory of collective life through work and embodies on stage the lineage of today’s working women like smoke: difficult to grasp, yet impossible to ignore.

SEKRETUEN BASOA

In Sekretuen Basoa (The Forest of Secrets), two dancers and two musicians discover a place where every sound, every gesture, and every ray of light seems to have a life of its own. With live classical music, the space transforms: what was once empty becomes an imaginary forest that breathes, responds, and moves to the rhythm of those who inhabit it. Guided by play and curiosity, the performers learn that everything is connected — that a movement can create a sound, that a single note can light up a beam of light, and that when harmony breaks, the forest fades away too. On their journey, they discover the importance of listening and caring, and that sometimes it is enough to pause and breathe for music and calm to return.

Sekretuen Basoa is a visual and musical experience where dance and music engage in constant dialogue, supported by projections. Wordless yet full of sound and emotion, the piece invites family audiences to listen, observe, and feel how art can transform space and awaken the imagination.

TINIEBLAK

The dramaturgy of Tinieblak unfolds as a scenic liturgy. It draws inspiration from the symbolism of the Office of Tenebrae — the deepening darkness, the sound of the strepitus, the tension and contemplation — and weaves these together with elements from Basque culture: the Ezpata Dantza del Santísimo, baile a lo suelto, village festivals, and soka dantzak in public squares.

The staging takes place within a confined, enclosed space, where the performers emerge as ritual figures. Dim, bluish lighting, the glow of candles, and ceremonial costumes immerse the audience in an atmosphere that moves between spiritual introspection and popular vitality.

NŒUD

“NŒUD,” knotted in French, is the new artistic proposal by the dance company DAB, in which we have delved into the working methodologies shared by Eduardo Chillida and Cristóbal Balenciaga through movement. The creation of spaces and curvilinear figures are the concepts of both artists that guide the movement of their time towards freedom. Precisely the period in which they lived has also served as inspiration for us; we have observed the political, social, and cultural situation of their time and positioned three dancers on stage with the intention of finding the path from constraint to freedom. Through these two axes, we look to the past to build contemporaneity, from the roots and for the people.

NUN ZIRA?

Nun zira? is a contemporary dance piece and tell us about what it means to be human. Sharing with one another, valuing ones existence and living together with people we love. Placing the viewer in a war context, the pair of performers will build a journey from the intimate to the wildest of the struggle for human survival, where the engine will be mutual love. The word IDENTITY is the basis of this project. When a person experiences a traumatic situation, such as war, we believe that in order to overcome it, they must restructure their identity, thus creating a new life, taking into account all aspects: a home, a new family and personal environment.
